Geraldine "Gerri" Tomko-MacKenzie, 54
North Plainfield – Geraldine Tomko-MacKenize, 54, passed away suddenly on Wednesday September 11, 2013 at her home in North Plainfield. Born in Somerville, she grew up in Manville and lived in Dunellen before moving to North Plainfield over 20 years ago.
Gerri graduated from Immaculata High School in Somerville. She worked as a waitress at the Sunset Diner in Green Brook for over 30 years, where she was well known for her baked goods, especially her delicious cookies and cake pops.
She is survived by her husband, David MacKenzie; her six children, Mandy Mulligan, James Mulligan, Jay Tomko, LeighAnn MacKenzie, Katherine MacKenzie and Richard MacKenzie; her brother, Larry and Paul Tomko and her sister, Melissa Tomko; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood on Monday from 1-4PM and 6-9PM. Cremation services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Plainfield Area Humane Society, 75 Rock Ave., Plainfield, NJ 07063.
